Not that he really had a chance to become President of the United States. Or that he could overcome his late campaign start, his lack of funding or his personal negatives.

Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, has formally declared himself to be a non-candidate.

According to Newt Gingrich’s spokesman, Rick Tyler, “Newt is not running. It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions and to explore a campaign for president.”

Which is extremely good news for the GOP and the conservative citizens of America.

Instead of being constantly reminded of his personal shortcomings and forced to pander for political dollars, Newt can serve as the "conservative backbone" of the party no matter which candidate wins  the party's presidential nomination.

Few can disagree with the fact that Newt is a world-class historian...

"Newt Gingrich is well-known as the architect of the “Contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House for the first time in forty years."

"Newt has published nine books including several fiction and non-fiction best-sellers.  Non-fiction books include: Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America, To Renew America, Lessons Learned the Hard Way, Saving Lives & Saving Money, Window of Opportunity, The Art of Transformation, and his latest, Rediscovering God in America.  He is also the author of these fiction books: Gettysburg, Grant Comes East, Never Call Retreat: Lee and Grant the Final Victory, 1945, and his latest book, Pearl Harbor, A Novel of December the 8.  All of these novels are active history studies in the lessons of warfare based on fictional accounts of historical wartime battles and their aftermaths.

"Recognized internationally as an expert on world history, military issues, and international affairs, Newt serves as a Member of the Defense Policy Board.  Newt is the longest-serving teacher of the Joint War Fighting course for Major Generals.  He also teaches officers from all five services as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Professor at the National Defense University .  Newt serves on the Terrorism Task Force for the Council on Foreign Relations.  He is an Editorial Board Member of the Johns Hopkins University journal, Biosecurity and Bioterrorism, and is an Advisory Board Member of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.  Recently, Newt was named co-Chair of the UN Task Force, a bi-partisan Congressional effort to reform the United Nations."

And since Newt's livelihood will not be impaired, he will be able to provide background and historical logistics support for the surviving GOP candidate.

This is a good day for the conservative faction of the GOP and the citizens of America.

What can YOU do?

Spend some time reading over Newt's position papers and recommendations. It is always helpful to both understand the issues of the day and to be able to explain them to others who may be less informed.

Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security and sovereignty of the United States for personal power, prestige or profits.

Remember the greatest contrast between the current crop of democrats and Republicans is almost non-existent. They both have participated in enlarging the government, restricting our liberties, spending money like drunken fools and, in general, been subject to the ridicule that comes from disgraced members.

Now is the time to take back the party from the "Rockefeller Republicans" and replace them with conservative, principled "Reagan Republicans." No matter who heads the democrat ticket, they remain committed to selling out traditional American values to pursue their ambition of social engineering the United States into a European-like morass. Or as Newt is fond of saying, "the only thing that will save the party and preserve our nation is a return to reasoned principle. Nothing more and certainly, nothing less."
