IT'S OFFICIAL: NO NEWT IS GOOD NEWS

Not that he really had a chance to become President of the United States. Or that he could overcome his late campaign start, his lack of funding or his personal negatives.

Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, has formally declared himself to be a non-candidate.

According to Newt Gingrich’s spokesman, Rick Tyler, “Newt is not running. It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions and to explore a campaign for president.”

Which is extremely good news for the GOP and the conservative citizens of America.

Instead of being constantly reminded of his personal shortcomings and forced to pander for political dollars, Newt can serve as the "conservative backbone" of the party no matter which candidate wins  the party's presidential nomination.

Few can disagree with the fact that Newt is a world-class historian...

"Newt Gingrich is well-known as the architect of the “Contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House for the first time in forty years."

"Newt has published nine books including several fiction and non-fiction best-sellers.  Non-fiction books include: Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America, To Renew America, Lessons Learned the Hard Way, Saving Lives & Saving Money, Window of Opportunity, The Art of Transformation, and his latest, Rediscovering God in America.  He is also the author of these fiction books: Gettysburg, Grant Comes East, Never Call Retreat: Lee and Grant the Final Victory, 1945, and his latest book, Pearl Harbor, A Novel of December the 8.  All of these novels are active history studies in the lessons of warfare based on fictional accounts of historical wartime battles and their aftermaths.

LOOKING BOTH WAYS BEFORE YOU CROSS THE STREET AND STILL GETTING HIT BY A TRUCK

I am tired of watching television, listening to talk radio and reading the daily newspaper. I am tired of seeing crime, disaster, murder and mayhem from around the world compressed into a hour or a single page. I am tired of those who, seeking to rise above the common everyday noise of daily living, seek to shock you into believing that their cause is somehow just and correct and that you need to take some action to advert a catastrophe which will surely doom us all. These are the people who want three things from us: first, our money, second, our time to spread the word about the absolute necessity of taking some form of action, and third, our affirmative vote on their pet projects.

If one was permitted to look behind the scenes, one would find politicians, corporate charlatans and a host of special interests all trying to instill fear, uncertainty and doubt to motivate you into believing and supporting their cause with your hard-earned time, effort and money.

I am tired of the "pandering politicians" and their charges, counter-charges, they said this or that, and their sexual peccadilloes.

But most of all, I am tired of the game: this endless pitch for increasing their power, prestige and profits while diminishing my assets and the amount of attention I can allocate to other more worthwhile causes like my family, friends and personal charitable activities.

So I urge all of my readers to simply stop for a moment and consider what is being asked of you. To consider how the message is being twisted to obtain your cooperation. And finally, to consider if it is all worth your time and energy to buy into some of the programs that they are pushing.

Consider for a moment, the democrats: big taxes, big entitlements, big government and big failures at everything that they have tried to accomplish. Look at the people pursuing leadership in the democrat party, all vying with each other to see how much they can cripple the United States economy, reduce the effectiveness of our military and increase government's control over your daily life.

Now consider for a moment, the republicans: failure to stop outrageous government spending, pushing liberal-style agendas which would open our borders, compromise our sovereignty, destroy our infrastructure, and, in general, try to increase government control over your daily life.

Not much of a principled philosophical difference between them other than their lust for power which allows them to feather their own nests and those of their "special interest" friends. All pandering to each and every constituency to gain that "marginal advantage" that will boost them back into power.

What does it say about an Administration who nominates an ambassador who was allegedly linked with egregious predatory lending of the type that has produced today's  financial catastrophe? What does it say about the republicans and democrats in the Senate who confirmed him -- but only after forcing him to pay more than $350 million dollars to several state attorneys-general to settle "predatory lending" charges?

What is says to me is that both parties are now equally despicable and engaging in this "faux" political debate to determine which dung beetle shall rise to the top of the dung heap.

Promising open borders. Promising $5,000 for every child born after a certain date. Promising universal healthcare in a 14-page pamphlet while most congressional bills are hundreds of pages long, incomprehensible to read and are replete with engineered special interest loopholes and subject to disastrous unintended consequences.

What should you make of a party that claims they ran the most ethical administration in history, and yet was guilty of chaos and corruption on a massive scale? What should you make of a party who claims an adherence to high-minded principles, yet demands all of its actions be carried out in secrecy?

What should we make of a politician who is so scripted and on-message, that even the media -- and by extension the American public -- is never allowed to ask the questions that should be asked?  What should you make of a politician whose two major bills that bear his name -- lead to massive campaign influence from third-parties and outside organizations and one of which attempted to subvert the sovereignty, security and safety of the United States?

What about a national media who wants to preserve its corporate control and profits by not having its media division engaging in combat with tomorrow's elected leaders? Or a media whose only honest product is talk radio where callers can discuss various issues, disagree with the host and the ordinary listener can get some sense of the issue being debated?

Where are the leaders who will move America beyond a polarized 50-50 constituency which now insures that the minority fringe interests will prevail over the majority as the candidates vie to break the deadlock?

Where are the principled leaders now? I have yet to see anyone in the first tier of either national party that is worthy of being elected the President of the United States. And, other than a few exceptions, I see mostly old, venal, partisan -- and yes, DUMB  -- people running for Congress. People who can't or won't read the actual bills that they are voting on; but rely on "staff" interpretations. People who have enough lawyers on staff to start a small law firm. Whose every move is tested through opinion polls and focus groups.

It appears that the public is being royally screwed by both parties and their chosen representatives.

What can YOU do?

I do not need to tell anyone what to do. You know the difference between right and wrong. You know what will hurt or benefit the United States.

Until we can find a candidate which will serve the United States and not the other way around, we must keep looking. Until we find one that can bridge the philosophical, moral and financial divide, we must keep looking.

My only advice at this point in time is what I have been saying all along. Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security and sovereignty of the United States for personal power, prestige or profits.

May we all be presented with a candidate that is knowledgeable, fairly honest and is willing to serve the citizens of America. Or failing that, we need to find our own candidate and empower them with financial, moral and logistics support.

Personally, of all of the candidates I have reviewed so far, the closest I can come to my candidate wish list is Mike Huckabee -- and he remains a long shot.

Forget the Brooklyn Bridge -- I have some forest to sell you -- perfect for global warming scams

From the same people that gave you the "subprime" mortgage crisis, the so-called financial engineers and derivative geeks, comes the latest opportunity to create assets out of "thin air." This is an opportunity for the rich to become richer and the poor to, well, become poorer as they transform their hard-earned labor into increasing "big government" tax revenues and government subsidies for the wealthy.

All based on "global warming." Oops, now called "climate change" as the scientists were unsure if the earth was either warming or cooling as they prescribed exactly the same remedy: higher taxes, more government control and a suspicious financial concept involving "offset credit" trading.

Let's start with the science.

U.S. Scientist Sees New Ice Age Coming

"NASA scientist James E. Hansen, who has publicly criticized the Bush administration for dragging its feet on climate change and labeled skeptics of man-made global warming as distracting "court jesters," appears in a 1971 Washington Post article that warns of an impending ice age within 50 years."

"U.S. Scientist Sees New Ice Age Coming," blares the headline of the July 9, 1971, article, which cautions readers that the world "could be as little as 50 or 60 years away from a disastrous new ice age, a leading atmospheric scientist predicts."

"The scientist was S.I. Rasool, a colleague of Mr. Hansen's at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The article goes on to say that Mr. Rasool came to his chilling conclusions by resorting in part to a new computer program developed by Mr. Hansen that studied clouds above Venus."

hansen

These esteemed scientists found "no need to worry about the carbon dioxide fuel-burning fuels puts in the atmosphere.

They didn't know then -- and they do not know now...

The truth is that climate cycles are almost impossible to determine over a short time span. What is needed are good observations over hundreds and thousands of years. Since most observational techniques are flawed by dirty data, improper positioning of sensors, and bad bookkeeping, many scientists turn to computer models based on a limited number of fundamental assumptions which may or may not be based on hard science. One such example of a flawed assumption is the United Nations' belief that population growth progresses linearly (which it does not) and that everyone will live a lifestyle comparable to the energy-driven United States citizen (which they do not). This is the single most popular source for "cataclysmic" projects. The United Nations' also reports the results of several computer models, some of which produce outlandish and probably false results. By refusing to assign probabilities to these climate scenarios (stories in UN-speak) the outlandish tales are allowed to be reported in the media with an equal weight to some of the more mild projects.

DEMOCRATS USE "MAGIC PHRASE" DESIGNED TO SUSPEND CRITICAL THOUGHT

The holy grail of all politicians everywhere. A "magic phrase" that, if used, would force members of the audience to suspend critical thought and instantly approve of the matter being discussed -- while simultaneously regarding the phrase user as being a caring, compassionate individual.

A phrase that is party-specific and favors the democrats, socialists, communists and anarchists. And, if this phrase is  used by a Republican or libertarian, the user will automatically be suspect and subject to scorn.

A phrase which guarantees media attention with minimal scrutiny.

At this point, I am sure that you do not believe me that such a phrase exists... let alone is being used effectively by the democrats and their fellow travelers.

And the phrase is...

Climate Change Coup d'etat: Stupid Statements from Stupid and/or Corrupt Politicians?

Revolutionary government takeover by promoting climate change legislation. What else would you call severely restrictive government control and confiscatory taxation levels which would empower a "political class" of elected officials, their bureaucratic henchmen and the special interests who bought and paid for their power?

Today's example of the "chicken little syndrome," where officials cry "the sky is falling" based on little or no scientific evidence and wild-ass projections based on flawed computer modeling, comes from Australia where the "eco-Nazis" are trying to force the signing of the globally destructive Kyoto protocol.

From an AFP (Agence France-Presse) report...

"Climate change poses this century's biggest security threat, possibly forcing the migration of millions of people from countries such as China, Australia's top policeman has warned."

A declarative fact not supported by the evidence, followed by his projection based on nothing more than a popular "doomsday-like" scenario with little probability of happening. I wonder what he thinks about the more likely scenario of a rogue nation obtaining nuclear weapons which, if detonated in the oilfields of the Middle East, could disrupt the economies of all industrial nations?

"Water and food shortages could send waves of migrants across oceans and borders in the Asia-Pacific region, causing social disruption and unrest, said Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty."

"For China to feed its predicted 2030 population, it needs to increase its food production by about 50 percent above today's levels," Keelty said.

"How does it achieve this, if its available land is dramatically shrinking and millions of people are on the move because of land and water.

Shouda, Woulda, Coulda projections based on nothing more than a faulty birthrate projection which has been linearized (straight line projection) and may not be representative of the underlying facts.

"In their millions, people could begin to look for new land and they'll cross oceans and borders to do it."

Is this an long-term opportunity to invest in boat  and airplanes? Or perhaps, we would have developed more "efficient" green transport in twenty to thirty years. Projections, as you can see, go both ways.

Does his scenario only work one way or are our scientists capable of figuring out how to using nuclear energy to power desalinization plants in the next twenty years?  Has this idiot ever consider that Los Angeles is a thriving megalopolis built on a desert -- made possible by the importation and judicious use of water? Or has he ever visited Dubai or the United Arab Emirates in August? Does he think that their populations have not adapted to warmer or extremely "hot" climates? Or does this dumbo think  that people will simply migrate to maintain their comfort zone involving a few degrees over thousands of years?

The  mass displacement of people "particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, could create a great deal of social uncertainty and unrest in the region," Keelty said.

"The potential security issues are enormous and should not be underestimated."

I wonder if he bases his comments on the mass migration of Mexicans into the Southwestern portion of the United States. Here we have a mini-model of what happens when a population shift illegally invades another country and destroys its infrastructure. In essence, a demographic bomb is being exploded. Social uncertainty: you mean like having to order a meal in Spanish in the local drive through or being unable to read warning signs in a foreign language?

TWO CRAZY FOREIGN POLITICIANS ARRIVE IN NEW YORK AND UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF THEM IS CALIFORNIA'S GOVERNOR -- ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER.

California's jet-setting ego-maniac Governor once again proves that style trumps substance as he addresses the United Nations on climate change (note: this is the new designation for global warming since some scientists,  including NASA's chief climate cheerleader, originally proposed the same cap and credits prescription for "global cooling."

Here are excerpts from the Governator's press release which highlights exactly what he is doing to all Californians, and by extension, the rest of the world.

Video of the Governor

"Putting California’s leadership in the fight against climate change on a world stage, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today gave a speech to official delegates and invited guests of the United Nations."

Thinking  big...

"Earlier this year, Governor Schwarzenegger signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four other states to partner in the fight against climate change, which created the Western Climate Initiative.  The original states included Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington; Utah and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and British Columbia have also since joined.  California has also formed partnerships with Great Britain and the Australian State of Victoria."

It is my impression that Schwarzenegger is trying out the global stage  while preparing to seek either a position as a Senator or another "world class" political position.

If you do not believe this is about the money...

"In October of 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger and New York Gov. George E. Pataki agreed to explore ways to link California's future greenhouse gas emission credit market and the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states’ Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) upcoming market.   RGGI (pronounced ReGGIe) is a cooperative effort by Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states to discuss the design of a regional cap-and-trade program initially covering carbon dioxide emissions from power plants in the region. In the future, RGGI may be extended to include other sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and greenhouse gases other than CO2. Currently, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Vermont are participating in the RGGI effort. "

This would allow a gross polluter to purchase offset credits to mitigate the pollution. The people living in the vicinity of the plant will still die from pulmonary-related diseases, but the global carbon balance bookkeeper will be satisfied. As will those who have made outlandish profits by generating, packaging and marketing the credits. Of course, the entire cost will be passed along to the rate-payers as they compute the cost-of-doing-business and add their own profits.

Results:

  • Polluters - win!
  • Local Residents - Lose!
  • Investors - win!
  • Ratepayers - lose!
  • Politicians - win!
  • Consumers - lose!

PROOF THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE APPROPRIATIONS PROCESS & POLITICAL EARMARK PROCESS HAS BEEN CORRUPTED BY SPECIAL INTERESTS

Part I - Did the Army overlook an off-the-shelf effective system to combat RPGs (Rocket Propelled Grenades) in favor of a multi-year development contract which, if everything worked correctly, could be deployed years from now?

According to an NBC News investigation...

"Earlier this year, the U.S. Army awarded one of its favored defense contractors, Raytheon, a $70 million contract to develop a new system to combat rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), which have killed nearly 40 Americans in Afghanistan and more than 130 in Iraq."

"The Army insists that Raytheon won the contract fair and square based on its 'systems engineering expertise and the
discipline which they used in analyzing requirements, threats and potential solutions.'”

"But an NBC News investigation of the contract selection process reveals that at almost every turn, Raytheon was given a significant competitive advantage over other defense contractors, including an Israeli firm whose system was extensively tested and found to be highly effective."

Assuming that there are no "classified" issues with this procurement, both the politicians and the military remain unchallenged as to why our government doesn't simply purchase the effective system now and then integrate it into our battle plans. However, something political appears to be afoot...

"Video obtained by NBC News shows that Raytheon’s system was not tested under the most trying of conditions.  It was mounted on a test stand, not on a moving vehicle."

"By contrast, a different Pentagon division, the Office of Force Transformation (OFT) tested a competing Israeli system — called Trophy — and found it at least 98 percent effective against RPGs in near-battlefield conditions."

This seems to clearly demonstrate either command negligence or budgetary malfeasance. Where are the democrat's investigation. Oh, I forgot, they are busy investigating the trivial and legal Alberto Gonzales matter. I really do not give a damn whether or not Gonzales lied to Congress, but I do care why our troops are exposed to RPGs and dying!

Part II - Why does a billionaire need  a $2 million addition to a department of defense appropriations bill for a controversial medical institute headed by his wife?

Is it just a coincidence that everyone who wants my opinion on the political issues of the day also wants my money? Or that someone's world will fall apart without my immediate financial assistance?

It seems that all of the recent requests soliciting my opinion about this or that subject also contain the obligatory plea to donate $20, $30, $40, $60, $100 or the ubiquitous $_______! Coincidently, so do those who request my humanitarian assistance in dealing with this or that emergency; only the amounts seem smaller $10, $20, $40 $______!

It is always URGENT and starts with an appeal to your  emotions...

Would you deny this little girl a piece of bread?

Can you stomach these horrible pictures without extending a helping hand?

This is the most important battle of our times and we need your help to meet the challenge.

Life under Hillary Clinton would be intolerable, please help us defeat her candidacy.

I can beat Hillary Clinton, but I need your help.

The planet will perish in ten years if you don't help us spread the word.

Or the solicitation of your opinion to help create legislation covering...

Religion  (Pro or Con)

Illegal Immigrants (Pro or Con)

Gas Taxes (Less)

Energy Dependency (More)

Anything for a buck...

It is the goal of almost every appeal to make you feel important, an insider, and to feel good about yourself -- if you donate. If you even think about tossing the pitch, we want you to feel bad, guilty and ashamed. How could you, a "good and honorable" person, turn your back on this poor and disadvantaged person? How can you, a "patriotic" person, fail to support our country and our cause?

If the appeal to your ego or your intellect fails to elicit your sympathy and an overwhelming sense of compassion, there is always fear.

Mostly fear of the government and various and sundry politicians.  Fear of the increasing burdensome regulations or the loss of our personal freedoms and rights. Fear that one politician is heading in the wrong direction and must be stopped at all cost. Sometimes it is the fear of multi-national corporations and other large institution whose monopoly power stifles competition and promotes increasing prices while delivering reduced services.

And sometimes the panic is man-made...

In an effort to rise above the hustle. bustle and noisy din of everyday living, one has to make your target audience believe that the situation is extremely grave and requires immediate action.

Amplified by a lazy media...

And sometimes the false and misleading is amplified by a media too lazy to investigate or in the need to fill the 24/7 news cycle with something new and different. It doesn't matter much that the subject matter is irrelevant, superficial or outright erroneous, it just needs to be different from the stuff you read, saw or listened to yesterday.

A good example is science. Where difficult concepts are spewed forth as sound bites and portrayed with simple graphics. Where guys in "white coats" offer up opinions without mentioning that they are in fundraising or administrative functions and only tangentially "do real science."

Are Politicians "selling out" the United States by allowing foreigners to purchase portions of our critical infrastructure?

The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.  -- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

WorldNetDaily is reporting that the Sheikdom of Dubai is planning to acquire 19.9 percent of the Nasdaq and 28 percent of the London Stock Exchange.

The big question: Does this move allow the Arab government and any associated freebooters to gain access to privileged information which may hurt the interests of the United States?

Senator Chuck Schumer, who is openly critical of Republicans and the present Administration, raises important issues by asking Treasury Secretary Paulson:

  1. "What national security concerns are raised by allowing a foreign government to own U.S. financial exchanges?
  2. Specifically, with respect to Dubai, are there national security concerns about this particular country's influence or control over a U.S. exchange?
  3. U.S. exchanges are a critical asset to our national economic infrastructure. What implications would foreign government control or influence have on our economic security?
  4. U.S. economic security depends on continued competitiveness in a global financial market. What impact will this transaction have on U.S. financial competitiveness?
  5. If national and economic security concerns can be satisfied, should restrictions be placed on this transaction to limit Dubai's control and influence over U.S. exchanges?"

"The transaction is being made through Borse Dubai, a holding company 100-percent owned by the government of the Emirate of Dubai and controlled by Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the head of the Dubai ruling family."

GLOBAL WARMING: We can all see that Al Gore doesn't understand the science, but is he too stupid to see what Kyoto will mean for the United States?

Al Gore continues to push his global warming agenda on the world for personal power, prestige and profits. I personally do not mind him hawking his wares any more than I would any other science fiction author.

However, in his quest for fame and fortune, I wonder does this jerk realize the potential damage to the United States economy if we sign on to the Kyoto Protocol?

As reported in the Australian press...

AL GORE has a story he wants to tell the world. But it will cost you a thousand dollars to hear it.

In a passionate attack on the climate policies of Prime Minister John Howard and US President George Bush, the former US vice-president, addressing a very expensive lunch in Sydney yesterday, called Australia and the US "the Bonnie and Clyde" outlaws of the global environment for their failure to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.

Mr Gore called on Australia to change course on Kyoto and its climate policies, saying if it did "it would be impossible for the United States to withstand the pressure" to join the rest of the world in ratifying Kyoto.

Apparently fearing the questioning press...

Mr. Gore made his comments after reporters were asked to leave the lunch venue. Despite the cost, lunch in the 700-seat room at the Sydney Convention Centre was a sell-out, as is tomorrow's event in Melbourne. VIP packages, which included a spot close to Mr Gore and a meet-and-greet with him, cost $25,000.

Panic, Doom & Gloom -- We must Act Now...

After his salutations, Mr Gore got down to business. The ballooning world population and the dizzying pace of technological change had helped turn mankind into an environmental "bull in a china shop", he said.

That the world's population had quadrupled in the past 100 years partly explained this. Technological change had also had a significant impact on "this shell of the environment that surrounds our planet".

He went on: "In the last three weeks, the amount of ice melting in the Arctic has been completely unprecedented. In only six days an area the size of the US state of Florida disappeared; in the week before that, an area almost twice the size of Britain disappeared.

"It's melting 10 times faster than previously recorded. Experts are now saying that if we don't act with urgency, the entire ice cap could be completely gone in less than 23 years."

Mr Gore said that despite all the scientific evidence about climate change, inaction still ruled among governments and business.

Raising his voice almost to a shout, he said climate change was not scientific, political or ideological.

"It's about survival."

No Al Gore, it is not about survival, it is about political control and profits...

The truth of the matter is simple. The Kyoto protocol would violate the sovereignty of the United States and place our economy and energy production squarely in the hands of a United Nations Commission on energy. A Commission which would have the power to dictate energy limits and usage along with invoking civil and criminal sanctions for violations.

Of course, those nations who do not voluntarily sign-on to the Kyoto protocol, arbitrarily choose to violate its provisions, or simply decide to cheat are not affected -- they have not ceded their power to the Commission. And for well-meaning others, there is always the possibility of waivers, exemptions and other tricky procedures which will mitigate any effect on their economies.
