The holy grail of all politicians everywhere. A "magic phrase" that, if used, would force members of the audience to suspend critical thought and instantly approve of the matter being discussed -- while simultaneously regarding the phrase user as being a caring, compassionate individual.
A phrase that is party-specific and favors the democrats, socialists, communists and anarchists. And, if this phrase is used by a Republican or libertarian, the user will automatically be suspect and subject to scorn.
A phrase which guarantees media attention with minimal scrutiny.
At this point, I am sure that you do not believe me that such a phrase exists... let alone is being used effectively by the democrats and their fellow travelers.
And the phrase is...
"IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN"
Yes, this is the magic phrase that is being used to sell everything from healthcare to immigration. And if you disagree -- you are branded a misogynist, pedophile or worse.
Which politician is willing to stand up to the challenge and point out that the legislation will harm the citizens of the United States and provide minimal benefit of this so-called protected class of children? Especially when a truth-teller or questioner is faced with a decidedly left-wing, hidden agenda media which seems given to short punchy headlines like "Politician Votes Against Children?"
False and misleading words...
It is now time to hold politicians to account. To believe that "words have meanings" and that the liberal habit of redefining words to accommodate the needs of a political agenda should be abandoned. To realize that there are certain, well-defined, instances when the long-term welfare of the nation's citizens take precedence over any short-term benefit to some children.
What can YOU do?
Refuse to be labeled by anybody, be they the politicians, media or fellow citizens. The old adage that you must first grant the insulter permission to insult you has never been truer.
Refuse to be coerced into any position that is not based on a rational appeal to your self-interest. Fuzzy promises and claims of "benefiting the children" without verifiable proof should be immediately rejected.
Use your common sense. If politicians claim that everybody needs tighter controls and higher taxes because it will somehow help the children of the future, make them prove that children will benefit as well as the adults. With facts and figures. Not based on feelings based on specious assumptions.
Realize that "it's for the children" argument is inherently flawed as it assumes that children live in a vacuum or, as in many socialist states, wards of the government. Remember the key to the argument is simple. Unless you are a miserable human being or rotten parent, what benefits the adults also benefits the children. Lower taxes equates to more discretionary income to improve your family's living condition. Issues involving better healthcare, schools, diets, exercise and any number of any other issues depend upon the citizen being empowered rather than ceding control of their lives and hard-earned income to a government program.
Proof: Look at the way we treat Indians. Look at the declining education scores. Look at the way healthcare is dispensed in ten- to fifteen-minute segments. Look at how many topics taught in today's school have no relevance to day-to-day living and have an inherent political agenda.
So, the next time they anybody claims "it's for the children" make them show you a government program that works, how it benefits children and how waste and mismanagement are controlled to maximize benefits to the children. They will be hard-pressed to answer -- while they claim that the benefits will be forthcoming over the next few years. These are people that cannot be trusted.
Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security and sovereignty of the United States for personal power, prestige or profits.
Do not support any candidate or current politician who is willing to screw the average citizen to provide some undefined benefit to the nation's current and future children. Parents with discretionary money will always do better for their children than any politician -- even Hillary Clinton.
