SUPREME COURT ENDANGERED BY RABID PARTISAN IDEOLOGUES IN THE SENATE

Hard on the heels of a statement by New York Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who told the American Constitution Society that  "the Senate should not confirm another U.S. Supreme Court nominee under President Bush 'except in extraordinary circumstances,'" we find that Chief Justice Roberts may be suffering from epileptic-like brain seizures which may be controlled by medication.

While it is too soon to comment on Justice Roberts' medical condition and his continued participation in Supreme Court decisions, it is particularly troublesome that Chuck Schumer has decided, once again,  to pervert the "Advice and Consent" function of the Senate to something akin to providing a small minority of ideologues with the power to subvert the will of another branch of government on a "take it or leave it" basis.

According to published reports, Schumer went on to say: "We should reverse the presumption of confirmation. The Supreme Court is dangerously out of balance. We cannot afford to see Justice Stevens replaced by another Roberts, or Justice Ginsburg by another Alito."

Which leads to another constitutional crisis regarding the function of the Senate in the Supreme Court confirmation process.

"WE" ARE THE PROBLEM: VOTE

It is almost inconceivable to question the patriotism of a sitting president, less so to question the competence of those surrounding a "big picture" executive who is not sufficiently versed in the details or unintended consequences of his government's actions. And it is almost inconceivable that the loyal opposition has become so radicalized, so rabidly partisan and hateful of the current administration that they would do or say anything to regain their former power. And to add to this particular confluence of events, a normally sane and sober press Administration based on their own personal feelings and ideology. Something is definitely wrong with the system and it appears that the people must, once again, step into the breach and provide a self-correcting mechanism to restore the United States to a position of ethical leadership through the voting mechanism designed by our forefathers to prevent tyranny and sovereignty.

While I may be dead wrong about my analysis of the current state of affairs, I would welcome any comments which would illustrate a different point of view; considering the following circumstances.

Sovereignty.

We appear to have been invaded by an increasing hoard of foreign nationals who have illegally crossed our borders to, ostensibly, seek a better life in America and who are now demanding formal recognition of their presence via a grant of citizenship. Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of these illegal aliens, our delicate and over-stretched infrastructure, healthcare, education and retirement benefits will be further compromised, along with our own ability to politically control our own destiny based on the increasing ability of their voting power should they be officially recognized.

GLOBAL WARMING: THE MARKETING OPPORTUNITY

Regardless of the scientific validity surrounding the global warming controversy, global warming is the latest marketing ploy to be adopted by those who sell their goods and services. It is all about feeling good about yourself than it is about changing the planet. Oh, the arrogance of those who think that they (even collectively) can somehow subvert nature and make a difference and the stupidity of those who "pay extra" in their attempt to overcome nature.

While there are things that can be done to reduce the amount of airborne contaminants and pollutants in the air, the nasty ones like nitrogen and sulfur oxides, and the heavy metals in our water,  like lead, mercury, etc., the public is being conned into believing that they must pay higher prices, higher taxes and allow those who actually do pollute our environment to success by  scamming the public.

Yes, scamming. That is the only way to describe this phoney-baloney "carbon cap and trading" program. Basically, the gross polluters are allowed to continue polluting if they buy "offsets" which mitigate the polluting effects of their actions. Come on people, are you that stupid? Those who live next to a source of pollution will continue to suffer the ill effects of that pollution. Planting trees in a forest halfway around the globe will do nothing to offset the ravages of the local pollutant load. The claim that the offsets some how balance out to the benefit of nature on a global scale is a statisticians wet dream. The real fact, the one that is being hidden from the ordinary citizen, is that this is a scheme to extract money from citizen-taxpayers and transfer it to the wealthy. Including the "offset" brokers who make nothing, do nothing, and use a computer to collect their hefty "middlemen" fees for packaging and auctioning the credits. This is a pure scam -- simple and pervasive.

Why then is nobody blowing the whistle. Because everybody can profit at the expense of the citizen-taxpayer?

U.S. Officials Voice Frustrations With Saudis, Citing Role in Iraq - New York Times

On July 19, 2007, we asked if there was a GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY TO HIDE THE REAL ENEMY? Now we find that even the left-leaning New York Times is also beginning to question our government's handling of Saudi Arabia which continues, either directly or indirectly to provide support to those who are killing our United States troops.

Specifically, the newspaper took note of...

"Officials in Washington have long resisted blaming Saudi Arabia for the chaos and sectarian strife in Iraq, choosing instead to pin blame on Iran and Syria. Even now, military officials rarely talk publicly about the role of Saudi fighters among the insurgents in Iraq."

The accounts of American concerns came from interviews with several senior administration officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they believed that openly criticizing Saudi Arabia would further alienate the Saudi royal family at a time when the United States is still trying to enlist Saudi support for Mr. Maliki and the Iraqi government, and for other American foreign policy goals in the Middle East, including an Arab-Israeli peace plan.

"The Bush administration’s frustration with the Saudi government has increased in recent months because it appears that Saudi Arabia has stepped up efforts to undermine the Maliki government and to pursue a different course in Iraq from what the administration has charted. Saudi Arabia has also stymied a number of other American foreign policy initiatives, including a hoped-for Saudi embrace of Israel."

IS THAT RED LIGHT CAMERA A TROJAN HORSE: SPYING ON ALL CITIZEN ACTIVITIES INCLUDING THE INTENDED RED LIGHT VIOLATIONS? -- INTRODUCING THE SNITCH TICKET!

Although expressly prohibited, certain California cities, possibly at the urging of the city's red light camera operators and the insurance industry's lobbyists, are trying to quietly modify California's vehicle code to allow the streaming video feeds from these so-called "red light" cameras to allow their unrestricted use by law enforcement for any purpose "outside" the enforcement of red light violations.

While certain municipalities have installed surveillance cameras in high crime areas on the theory that the public has no expectation of privacy on public property, it has also been recognized that these cameras can be directed at targets located on private property for the "private and pleasurable" purposes of camera operators. There does not appear to be any apparent safeguards or penalties associated with this unauthorized spying on private citizens which is totally unrelated to public necessity and which is unlikely to be discovered by abused and aggrieved members of the public.

DOES CONGRESSIONAL INTERFERENCE IN THE FREE MARKET RESULT IN INFLATION? YOU DECIDE! YOUR LATTE IS "AT RISK"

A Pandering Congress...

Congress panders to the special interest lobbyists who want to maximize profits for their clients. In return, those who support the lobbyist-directed legislation receive campaign contributions and votes. The reason given for the legislation is usually directed at some worthy cause -- which may be far from the truth. In our milk price support example below, the goal is to save small independent farms -- although the bulk of the subsidies always seem to flow to large agribusiness corporations... and sometimes to so-called "gentlemen farmers" who have no active interest in farming and use the "family farm" as a tax mitigating device.

According to Chris Edwards, Director of Tax Policy at the Cato Institute (The Madness of American Milk Prices) ...

"As Congress considers a major farm bill in coming weeks, it has an opportunity to cut wasteful subsidy programs and cut food prices for average families. Dairy programs would be a great place to start, since milk prices have soared in recent months."

"Consider the illogic of federal dairy policies. They jack up milk prices for millions of families at the same time that other programs, such as food stamps, aim to reduce food costs. And although federal law generally prohibits cartels, a federal dairy cartel enforces high milk prices. If Coke and Pepsi got together and agreed to hike prices, they would be prosecuted. But with milk, raising prices is government policy."

ATTACK ON FRED THOMPSON: GUILT BY ASSOCIATION SMEAR TACTICS

As much as the media and the Hollywood hypocrites portrays trial lawyers as being the "scum of the earth" unless they are liberal crusaders, the fact remains that lawyers are paid advocates for clients who may represent the seamy side of law. They are trained to argue both sides of any question -- along with learning how to suppress one's own sensibility and feelings which may impair the defense efforts.

For John Solomon, staff writer at the Washington Post, to claim that Thompson's "Cases Indicate Willingness to Defy GOP Orthodoxy" is to engage in the worst type of smear campaign: guilt by association.

SIN: BAD FOR YOU, GREAT FOR THE GOVERNMENT

We have all seen examples of self-righteous politicians who look down their noses and label everything with which they do not agree as sin. Whether attempting to control things that are deemed harmful to personal or public welfare, they attempt to modify your behavior with "restrictive" taxation and costly fines and penalty assessments -- all while laughing as they fuel government coffers and increase the size of their individual bureaucracies. The political hypocrites who continue to have a vested interest in making the public "wrong."

CAMPAIGN REFORM URGENTLY NEEDED BEFORE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES INJURE UNITED STATES DIPLOMATIC EFFORTS

No matter what you think about George Bush or his Administration, he is the President of the United States and his Administration is charged with the safety and security of America.

It is downright dangerous for political candidates for any office, as well as private citizens, to interfere in United States diplomatic efforts with any foreign nation or leader.

First, well researched and in-place initiatives, especially those which require substantial compliance and have significant costs to implement, can be placed on hold while the foreign power awaits a change in administrations. Candidates who differ significantly with the current or proposed US policy actually encourage the delay.

Two, if a foreign power or leader believed that they could influence an election through back-channel support or funds transfers to U.S. entities, these methods for attacking the efforts of the United States become increasingly attractive and more probable.

Three, people with differing backgrounds like Obama and Clinton can send uncertain messages regarding their future positions as they do not represent their party at the present time, there is no guarantee of their nomination as a viable candidate, and, most importantly, they do not have the full scope of information and intelligence that is available to the President. Even lofty Senators do not have access to much of the classified material that is produced by the intelligence agencies -- even those specifically charged with intelligence agency oversight.

And four, there is a very large chance that any meeting would be used as a public relations ploy to demonstrate the foreign leader's strength or to point out the weaknesses of the United States.

For, good or bad, the President must choose carefully to whom he speaks -- lest he send the wrong signal or appear to be weak. If the President chooses not to speak directly to the leader of a foreign nation, this should not be interpreted as a sign of arrogance or weakness that must be immediately corrected by the potential political candidate -- if they ever assume office. Numerous back channel opportunities for message passing exist and diplomacy is often a painful one-step-at-a-time affair.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE DEMOCRAT FAIRNESS DOCTRINE

The truth about the democrat's version of the fairness doctrine is strongly rooted in the philosophical difference between Republican's and their democrat opponents which have embraced the leftist elements of Marxism, socialism, and communism. And it is a simple difference which explains much about the philosophies between the two major political parties. Where the Republicans believe strongly in self-reliance and the equality of opportunity, the democrats believe in big government control and the equality of outcome.  A proposition which is readily apparent when you view the democrats trying to buy votes with ever larger entitlement programs. Of course, there are those who will point to the profligate spending of the current Administration as a counter to this thesis. To which we reply, the current Administration is comprised mostly of Rockefeller Republicans who act like liberal democrats and seek to maintain their power by avoiding the unpleasantness associated with explaining the truth to the public. Unlike conservative Reagan Republicans who sound positively stodgy and circumspect.

In recent months, the chattering classes cannot put aside their speculation about the revival of the FCC's "Fairness Doctrine" to ensure that certain elements of the media, namely "popular talk radio that discusses or debunks democrat propaganda," is somewhat muted. This the democrats see as a necessity as their political propositions and arguments cannot withstand the close scrutiny of conservative media hosts or the wide dissemination of the truth that is delivered in a form that can be understood by the majority of the public. A truth which encourages, heaven forbid, a wide-ranging discussion of the issues of the day.
