IRAQ: PROTECTING CHINA'S OIL INVESTMENT WITH AMERICAN BLOOD?

In spite of his reputation as an "oil man," and the claim of the lefties that "Iraq was all about oil," it is amazing that George Bush's administration is so out of touch with the Iraqi government that they could pull off a Chinese oil deal right under the nose of the Administration.

It is also no wonder that all of the Democratic anti-Iraq war rhetoric may have pushed the Iraq government to seek protection of the Chinese military should the democrats engineer an immediate pull-out of Iraq.

According to a report in the Financial Times...

"Baghdad has revived a contract signed by the Saddam Hussein administration allowing a state-owned Chinese oil company to develop an Iraqi oil field, the Iraqi oil minister told the Financial Times in Beijing on Friday."

"Hussein al-Shahristani also said Baghdad welcomed Chinese oil company bids for any other contract in the country through a “fair and transparent bidding process” to be laid out in the new oil law under discussion in Iraq’s parliament."

"China National Petroleum Corporation, the country’s largest oil company and the parent of listed group Petrochina, signed a deal with Iraq in 1997 to develop the al-Ahdab oil field. The field is one of the first to be offered to foreign investors since the 2003 US-led invasion."

"Iraq has been reluctant to revive Saddam-era contracts, but seems to have turned to China as security problems and uncertainties over Iraqi investment law have deterred other investors."

It seems to me that Iraq is now hedging their bets.

Considering the amount of anti-Iraq war flak being spewed by the democrats, socialists and anarchists in the anti-war movement, is this not a prudent move by the Iraq government to assure that their political butts are covered should the Democrats prevail in a unilateral withdrawal from Iraq?

If you ran a corrupt regime that can hardly protect itself, let alone its people, there are two obvious choices: one abdicate with your looted millions to the safe havens of France or Switzerland or two, seek a powerful ally that wants to carve off your natural resources and publicly humiliate its sometime enemy.

Is President Bush and the Administration still watching the ball or are they all engaged in passing spurious and injurious legislation that would grant amnesty to illegal aliens?

Now is time time for a concerted effort by both chambers of congress and the president to watch out for America's interests: both foreign and domestic.

What can YOU do?

Let your representatives and senators know that you are not willing to cede America's foreign or domestic interests in the interests of their political ambitions.

Vote against anyone that compromises the safety, security and integrity of the United States.

Remind those dissidents that, first and above all, we are the UNITED States and will protect our nation at any cost: from political whores as well as foreign enemies.
