Stupid Is As Stupid Does: Speaker Pelosi on Climate Change

Print Story: Pelosi: Climate change is a reality on Yahoo! News.

According to a story by Geir Moulson, writing for the Associated Press, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has personally confirmed the existence that “climate change is a reality.” What bugs me, is that this dimwitted San Francisco liberal spent the taxpayer’s money on a trip to Greenland to find out that weather can change. She could have opened the door, looked out and made the same pronouncement without ever leaving home.

According to the Associated Press:

“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday she led a congressional delegation to Greenland, where lawmakers saw ‘firsthand evidence that climate change is a reality,’ and she hoped the Bush administration would consider a new path on the issue.”

“After meeting with German Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel, Pelosi praised Berlin for its leadership on the issue.”

Her trip comes ahead of next week's Group of Eight summit and a climate change meeting next month involving the leading industrialized nations and during a time of increased debate over what should succeed the Kyoto Protocol, a 1997 international treaty that caps the amount of carbon dioxide that can be emitted from power plants and factories in industrialized countries. It expires in 2012.”

“The California Democrat pointed to her delegation's weekend stop in Greenland, ‘where we saw firsthand evidence that climate change is a reality; there is just no denying it.’”

“‘It wasn't caused by the people of Greenland — it was caused by the behavior of the rest of the world,’ she said.”

“Scientists have noticed that Greenland's output of ice into the North Atlantic had increased dramatically, doubling over the decade that ended in 2005.”

"’We hope that we can all assume our responsibilities with great respect and that our administration will be open to listening to why it is important to go forward perhaps in a different way than we have proceeded in the past,’" she told reporters.”

According to comments on a document released by the environmental group Greenpeace, the Bush administration is preparing to reject new targets on climate change at the summit. The White House declined to confirm the comments were from U.S. officials.

"We regret very much that we must so far have the impression that it is difficult to reach concrete results with the American administration," Gabriel said after meeting Pelosi.

What can You do?

Realize that there is more at stake than the self-serving political rantings of someone who is attempting to undercut the administration.

Realize that, if adopted and ratified by Congress, some of these protocol agreements could place the American government, companies and other institutions under the control of European-based foreign powers who have more interest in strengthening their own political and economic powers in addition to correspondingly weakening the United States, than they have in preserving the ecological balance of the earth.

Realize that International Standards which may be enforced by International Court of Justice located in The Hague (Netherlands) and which is the principal justice organ of the U.S.-bashing United Nations. Imagine what will happen if minority countries mass together and decide to limit the industrial progress of the United States by controlling certain types of gaseous emissions?

Realize that the so-called pollutant known as carbon dioxide — is not are harmful pollutant and a necessary component of life on earth. Green living matter take in carbon dioxide and emit life sustaining oxygen: a fact long known by every 5th grader who ever studied the rudiments of botany and biology. If you want to go after something harmful, try sulfur dioxide which mixes with water to form sulphuric acid — the acid rain familiar to industrial cities with heavily polluting industry.

Realize that there is no conclusive proof that the phenomenon of global warming exists … and if it does, that man’s puny efforts can affect the whole of nature. What we know for sure is that the environment seems to be affected by the weather which has always been cyclical in nature. (pun intended) The sun’s radiated energy, the rotation of the earth, the ocean’s currents and cloud cover all play a significant part in the formulation of weather. Honorable scientists disagree about the root causes and the long term effects of climate change, but all agree that more study is needed.

Vote against any politician that votes to cede power over American life to people who care more for themselves than they do humanity in general. Trusting someone like Pelosi and the international community to protect the interests of the United States citizenry appears to be foolish; as Pelosi appears to be more interested in replacing the current Administration with one of her own. One that seems to overlook scientific facts and the rational rule of law for one that succumbs to a “touchie feelie” existence where the government takes care of everybody (often in proportion to their political involvement and contributions.).
