I noticed that no one has put up the “Little Odessa” sign in Hollywood where the Russians Congregate.
Or the “Little Riyadh” sign in Beverly Hills where the Saudis and other Muslims come to drink and have a good time.
SOME POLITICIANS JUST DON’T GET IT. They don’t understand that while every community has its own DNA, its own voice, and its own hidden history of political corruption and injustice, by continually dividing the people by identity: class, race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, etc. you are weakening the broader community.
I abhor hyphenated-Americans and believe most of those who waited so long to immigrate and become legal residents really want to assimilate. And it appears that it mostly the illegals and those given some form of asylum or amnesty by our government simply want to recreate the hell-hole they left on American soil – where they can mine the social safety nets that all of us have paid into throughout our lives without getting imprisoned or shot for protesting how horrible and unfair America appears to be. If it is so bad, why don’t they return to the paradise they left and quit bothering us all with their grievances and other assorted nonsense?
I have no problem with people honoring their culture, speaking their own language, or eating ethnic food – we all enjoy that.
But the damn politicians need to keep from further balkanizing our nation. They need to understand that our representatives should represent us all, and not their own community. There is absolutely nothing in the U.S. Constitution that says we need to fill leadership or other positions with the percentages of individuals as they are represented in the general population. And, I can find nothing that says we need to count illegal aliens when apportioning that representation.
It is time for politicians to stop pandering and reinforcing identity politics to the detriment of the American citizen.
