What? I am doing it to make the USA great again!
At first, I thought Donald Trump would not file his FEC Statement of Candidacy and Statement of Organization, and he did. Then, I thought that Trump would not file his financial disclosure information, and he just did …
But, even though the disclosure form was not designed for a billionaire and hides more than it reveals, the idea that he filed – not under penalty of perjury, “but to the best of my knowledge” – leads me to believe that there is still a game left to be played.
While the financials do not reveal a total sum due to the indicated ranges and the difficulty in valuing real estate and Trump trademarks, we can glean some information from the reporting. That Trump is a master marketer of his own brand of bullshit.
Bottom line …
It remains to be seen how far Trump plans to carry this charade because he is neither a republican nor is he a conservative. What he appears to be is a loudmouth billionaire bully who is not afraid to say what’s on his mind. More so than even Chris Christie, himself a moderate, who tempers his outrage lest he fail to appear “presidential.”
In one sense, Trump is doing a favor for the GOP. He is saying the things that the mealy-mouthed candidates would never say – and that is sparking a debate over the most important campaign issue affecting national security: immigration and its criminals and domestic gangs who are little more than domestic terrorists.
As they say in Hollywood, stay tuned.
