One of the major problems with the GOP relates to their messaging and inability to deal with the mainstream media. Now we see the venerable conservative publication, the Wall Street Journal” using the words “campaign mode” to indicate campaigning rather than its adopted media use for calling President Barack Hussein Obama a liar for his bald-faced lies to the American people.
Christie Goes Into Campaign Mode
Gov. Chris Christie attacked New Jersey Democrats for their push to increase taxes and promised to reverse job losses during a speech Wednesday to state business leaders. In an expansive 40-minute address that had the tone of a campaign speech, Christie said Republicans and Democrats had “core philosophical differences” on taxes and spending. The governor promised to veto any new tax increase passed by the Democratic-controlled Legislature, as he has done in the past. “Let there be no confusion about the philosophies of the two parties as we enter this election year. Republicans think you are overtaxed,” said Christie, while speaking before NAIOP, a commercial real estate association. “Democrats believe you are undertaxed.”
The Republican governor, who faces election in November for a second term, said his administration has created 103,000 private-sector jobs since he took office in 2010. By the time he is up for office, Christie said he expected to bring that number to 119,000, accounting for the number of jobs lost under former Gov. Jon Corzine‘s administration in 2009.
“I believe by the time we stand for reelection in November we will have obliterated those job losses and in fact be starting on a whole new path upward for New Jersey,” he said.
Christie swiped at former Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson, who previously was an agency official in New Jersey, for running the most “business unfriendly environmental protection department in America.” He also criticized Democrats for refusing to pass a 10% income tax cut he promised during his budget address last year. <Source: “Christie Goes Into Campaign Mode - Metropolis – WSJ>
Bottom line …
Chris Christie, whatever you may think of him, was campaigning and not in “campaign mode.” Compared to President Obama, Christie is the exemplar of rectitude and commonsense. Yes, like all politicians he may spin the truth – but I have never heard him stand before a national audience and knowingly and deliberately lie to the American public. Nor have I ever known the mainstream media to give a pass to a lazy liar like Barack Obama.
The Wall Street Journal and the GOP should get their messaging right – the country and our future remains at stake.
