It appears that the politicians and bureaucrats have reached a critical mass – where the wealth and property of American citizens along with their tax revenues is seen as belonging to the political class and can be used or disposed of as they see fit. These people give lip service to their ideological agenda, but in reality are not about good governance, they are about self-interest and enlarging their personal, professional and political power bases; the public be damned.
How did we get there?
Both political parties operate on OPM, Other People’s Money, and are completely and thoroughly corrupt. They sponsor politicians who they think can win an election rather than serve the people well. They pander to the large special interests in return for campaign funding and voter support – paying them back post election with contracts, subsidies and special privileges.
The democrats, under the guise of helping the poor and disadvantages have built an entitlement system which allows them and their cohorts – on both sides of the aisle – to siphon-off billions of taxpayer dollars with little or no transparency or accountability. Lest you think that the Republicans are any better, you have another thing coming. One need only review the actions of the Bush Administration to see the self-dealing and continued looting of the American Treasury.
The death of the media watchdogs …
Why we continue to pretend that the media is the fourth branch of government, looking out for the people, rooting out corruption and speaking truth to power is beyond me. Most media outlets are owned by large corporations and operate in their own corporate self-interests: a world of tax breaks, subsidies and governmental licensing. And what is purported to be commercial free public radio is nothing more than state-sponsored propaganda – usually of the left-leaning, do-gooder socialist variety.
Conservative: compared to what?
I have come to believe that the conservative designation is less a political philosophy than a simple promise to steal less than the opposition party. Cynical? You bet! But history proves me right. Even though both parties condemns waste, fraud, abuse and governmental malfeasance – nothing much has changed under either party except for the party designations of our elected officials. You would be hard-pressed to note any difference between Carter, Clinton and Obama other than their personalities and management style. All the while the bureaucrats in the back room are sticking it to the American public. Hiding taxes in utility fees and other pass-through gimmicks which keep the American public from really calculating their true tax burden.
April 15th is fast approaching …
For me, April 15th signifies more than the Internal Revenue Service’s annual tax deadline, it is the anniversary of the birth of this blog. What started out as an experiment in personal communication and a way to vent my frustration at the events of the day has morphed into something quite different. The realization that all of the brouhaha about the party’s differences is a sham: a distraction of master pickpockets while they steal your wallet.
Yes, Barack Obama represents a clear and present danger to our way of life. His decisions on both domestic and foreign policy are moving this center-right country leftward towards socialism or even worse, outright theft of your money in the guise of wealth redistribution. But there is no mistaking that the Administration, under George Bush, was so preoccupied with allowing the major financial institutions to loot the public treasury and rape the people that they put the public’s rights and best interests on the back burner.
We need to fundamentally rethink our government …
There is no doubt in my mind that we need to return to our Constitutional mandates. To limit the size and scope of government. To restore to the states the fundamental power which has been excerpted by the federal government; the feds ruling, not with the mandate of law, but with the power of the purse – granting or withholding the taxpayer’s money collected from state residents depending on whether or not the state passes legislation that elicits, often under the penalty of law, the fed’s desired behavior of its residents.
We need to impose term limits on all governmental positions, especially those relating to the Supreme Court. We can no longer ignore that our court justices are not blind and willing to rule on existing law. They have gone far beyond that as they usurp the Congressional law-making role by ruling from the bench. Some are ideologues appointing by a president to advance a political agenda rather than to render justice under the law. Some are ancient hacks who have outlived their usefulness to the American public. Truth-be-told, their work – as is the work of Congress – is actually performed by a somewhat anonymous and unaccountable staff.
My direction?
So as I approach April 15th, I am rethinking the role of this blog and my other comments made in the social media. I am open to suggestions at this point in time.
I fear for our nation and our individual survival. I fear that we may well have gone beyond the tipping point of individualism as Obama pursues policies such as healthcare and cap-and-trade. Both of which are thinly disguised ploys to allow the federal government to regulate each and every aspect of our daily lives – if not by granting or withholding life-sustaining medical care, then by controlling the available jobs by exerting control over the production and usage of energy upon which our national economy is based.
I have had it with the politicians taking private property, ostensibly to protect rodents and other vermin and subverting contracts to convey special privileges to the unions – thinly disguised political machines which are harming our nation. I have had it with the mainstream news media which considers journalism to be publishing or airing seemingly controversial information based upon the leaks from the opposition party or a whistle-blower who is seeking fame and fortune – possibly to avoid criminal prosecution.
And mentioning criminals, has anyone noticed that the crime problem in the United States is encouraged by the government, on the local, state and federal levels, by criminalizing more and more activities to feed the ever-growing legal community and their functionaries in law enforcement? How else can you explain the government’s willingness to tolerate gang activity in the inner cities? How else can you explain that the flow of funds from illegal narcotics transactions are laundered through the judicial system and wind up in the pockets of lawyers, politicians and government officials.
Are we, as my best friend claims, doomed as a nation, as a people and as individuals? With our nation morphing into just another dictatorship, albeit a subtle one where the perception of individualism and an honest government is only a perception?
History is being written as we speak. Unfortunately, it is the history of the far left, written by our present government and our educational institutions which have been infiltrated by those who believe that America is unexceptional and complicit in spreading woe in the greater world. The globalists who claim that we have a global “multinational” business structure and global finance and are now ready for global governance. Is this the NWO: the New World Order? Or is it simply an asset grab by those already wealthy and who control political power? People like George Soros who openly pursue political agendas while reaping the tangible benefits of exerting influence on the system?
Where are we headed?
I have until April 15th to figure it out.
