There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that politics has devolved into a dirty “quid pro quo” business. Where the high-minded social pronouncements of the politicians is not matched with the money-grubbing efforts to sell their votes and influence to those with money. On this particular playing field, even celebrity-driven causes are absent as the politicians seek “real money” and “voter support” for their campaigns. So what do American citizens and taxpayers get from this tawdry exercise other than the guarantee of bigger government, higher taxes, more governmental chaos, corruption and another assault on their personal freedoms?
The BIG LIE …
‘DSCC CHAIRMAN ROBERT MENENDEZ STATEMENT ON STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS”
“U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, released the following statement upon completion of President Obama’s State of the Union address:
‘The President did precisely what he needed to do this evening: lay out an agenda that directly addresses the economic angst that voters feel right now. Democrats inherited colossal problems, and while we have made progress over the last twelve months, the President outlined ways we can redouble our efforts. To be successful in November, Democrats must engage and deliver for Americans who feel economic anxiety right now.’
Even though they have had a year in total control of the government and have passed spending bills which rocket our growing debt into the stratosphere; even though they have proposed healthcare and energy legislation which would move America towards a “command and control” government with soviet-style central planning – they continue to blame former President Bush for the country’s current ills.
‘While we invite Republicans to work with us, they have shown a stunning disinterest in doing so. In fact, Republicans prefer to bet on the failure of the President and of the country. But Republicans will be on the ballot this November too, and their only solutions are a return to the very policies favoring corporate interests that got us here in the first place.’
Only a hypocritical scumbag politician could say that they extended an invitation to the Republicans to engage in bi-partisanship when the obvious reality is they locked the Republicans – and the American public -- out of the room when discussing and crafting legislation. Everything was done behind closed doors and the Republican initiatives which were publicly posted on the Internet were completely ignored.
‘In the upcoming elections, voters will face a choice between Republicans who are standing with Wall Street fat cats, bankers and insurance companies - or Democrats who are working hard to clean up the mess we inherited by putting the people's interests ahead of the special interests.”
Proof that the democrats are lying …
Political posturing or rank lying is the question of the day. One need only notice that the democrats are claiming they are working hard to clean up the inherited mess that was created by the former Administration’s pandering to the special interests: “the Wall Street fat cats, bankers and insurance companies.” And then read the following item!
Politico is reporting …
“Dem. senators spent weekend with bank, energy, tobacco lobbyists”
“Twelve Democratic Senators spent last weekend in Miami Beach raising money from top lobbyists for oil, drug, and other corporate interests that they often decry, according to a guest list for the event obtained by POLITICO.”
Not only is this rank hypocrisy of the first order, but the first step in the “dance of the dueling parties” as they subtlety offer to sell access and possibly their votes to the special interests.
“The guest list for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's "winter retreat" at the Ritz Carlton South Beach Resort doesn't include the price tag for attendance, but the maximum contribution to the committee, typical for such events, is $30,000. There, to participate in ‘informal conversations’ and other meetings Saturday, were senators including DSCC Chairman Robert Menendez; Michigan's Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow; Bob Casey of Pennsylvania; Claire McCaskill of Missouri; freshmen Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mark Begich of Alaska; and even left-leaning Bernie Sanders of Vermont.”
Wait, isn’t that the same Robert Menendez who said:
“In the upcoming elections, voters will face a choice between Republicans who are standing with Wall Street fat cats, bankers and insurance companies - or Democrats who are working hard to clean up the mess we inherited by putting the people's interests ahead of the special interests.”?
And don’t these people qualify as “special interests?"
“Across the table was a who's who of 108 senior Washington lobbyists, including the top lobbying officials for many of the industries Democrats regularly attack: Represented were the American Bankers Association, the tobacco company Altria, the oil company Marathon, several drug manufacturers, the defense contractor Lockheed, and most of the large independent lobbying firms: Ogilvy, BGR, Quinn Gillespie, Heather Podesta, and Tony Podesta.”
Why we can’t trust these lying, cheating democrats …
I am not saying that this fundraising affair is any different from previous political events or the type of events that are held by Republicans. What I am saying is that the democrats continue to pursue their policy of developing a voting coalition of victims and continue to demonize the special interests – all they while taking money from the very special interests they excoriate in the media. And engaging in rank hypocrisy and openly lying to the public.
Truth-be-told, this goes beyond hypocrisy and politically acceptable campaigning – is legal bribery and the loser is always the American citizen/taxpayer. These people are not arguing for rate cuts, but rate hikes. Special advantages that secure their monopoly positions. More unionization. More government grants and subsidies. All coming out of the pocket of the American taxpayer.
Considering the media’s shameful performance in providing fair and balanced coverage of the democrats, it is doubtful whether or not this hypocrisy will be covered in the mainstream media or be used as another example of the democrat’s blatant hypocrisy. So check the guest list here and decide for yourself if this was just another friendly get-together between like-minded friends.
A clear and present danger …
It appears that the corrupt democrats and their complacent Republican counterparts present a clear and present danger to this nation. Never before have we seen such behavior: when the President and senior members of Congress stand before the American people and LIE! There is no other word for it. They are lying to us about their intentions, their actions and who their masters might really be.
We need to resolve this dangerous situation in 2010 by restoring the checks and balances that were envisioned by our forefathers. We need to turn our back on the media outlets which have not lived up to their journalistic ethics and spoken “truth to power.” We need to elect principled conservatives to office to replace the democrats and their moderate Republican sycophants like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe. Leftists such as John Kerry, Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Henry Waxman and other committed ideologues.
It is time to take back our country from those who are selling it to the highest bidder.
