The democrats, the party of lawyers and corruption, once again tries to save one of its most corrupt members, Christopher Dodd (D-CT), Friend of Countrywide's Angelo Mozilo and one-half of the famous Dodd/Kennedy waitress sandwich.
To save his rapidly cratering career, it seems that Dodd has attempted to purchase political support with taxpayer money.
According to the Associated Press …
“A $100 million item for construction of a university hospital was inserted in the Senate health care bill at the request of Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., who faces a difficult re-election campaign, his office said Sunday night.”
Hiding numerous pork-barrel spending items behind the ill-crafted legislation which leaves it up to the Administration, in the form of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, to actually dole out the money – away from the prying eyes and influence of Congress.
“The legislation leaves it up to the Health and Human Services Department to decide where the money should be spent, although spokesman Bryan DeAngelis said Dodd hopes to claim it for the University of Connecticut.”
With this type of legislative malfeasance, it is conceivable that the Secretary of HHS could award Acorn a $20 million contract to study the impact of healthcare among the poor.
Why we cannot trust the corrupt bastards …
“The provision is included in a 383-page series of changes to the health care bill that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., outlined Saturday. Scattered throughout are numerous items sought by individual lawmakers, many of them directing money explicitly to programs or projects in their home states.
Your healthcare is being compromised and subject to denial, rationing and long waiting lines because a politician needs to produce pork to fuel their political campaigns.
Hidden in plain sight …
“The one sought by Dodd provides $100 million for ‘a health care facility that provides research, inpatient tertiary care, or outpatient clinical services.’ It must be affiliated with an academic health center at a public research university in the United States "that contains a State's sole public academic medical and dental school."
Specific enough to get the money, but not specific enough to be used by one’s political opponents.
And it is just the beginning …
“The money can cover a maximum of 40 percent of the facility's construction costs.”
“Based on the criteria set out on the bill, it appeared that state-affiliated hospitals in about a dozen states could compete for the funds.”
Yeah right! Plausible deniability of a sure thing!
Bottom line …
The democrats, whether in the Administration or Congress, appear to be thoroughly corrupt and working against the American taxpayer. From their toxic political ideology, I wonder if they are actually working for our enemies, both foreign and domestic.
We need to stop corruption. If both parties claim they are against waste, fraud, corruption, misuse of funds and special projects – why then hasn’t the process stopped.
We need to sweep Congress clean in 2010. No ifs, ands or buts. If we don’t, we face a clear and present danger of historic proportions. One that might lead to the destruction of the Constitution and the loss of our individual liberties.
