The Obama Administration needs organizations like ACORN and the SEIU to muster “on the ground” support of its Marxist policies …'
Andrew Breitbart ’s Big Government is reporting …
“The overdue Whitewash Report comes at a critical time for ACORN and its big brother SEIU. ACORN and SEIU are the lead organizations behind Health Care for America Now (HCAN), which is the principle organization agitating for the passage of ObamaCare. In short, HCAN is ACORN. HCAN and SEIU are planning a big rally/blitz in support of ObamaCare this Thursday. ACORN’s ongoing scandals were a big obstacle on the left’s push to enact a sweeping government take-over of health care. As that battle reaches its climax, ACORN’s hired gun enters the scene to say, really, everything is just fine with ACORN.”
“As members of ACORN’s advisory committee, SEIU’s Andy Stern and Center for American Progress’ John Podesta, had a big role in selecting Harschbarger for the whitewash. Stern, the most frequent guest of the Obama White House, is a leading architect of the health care overhaul that will deliver him millions of more dues-paying members. Podesta is a long-time ACORN ally. The PR group he helped create, Media Matters, has devoted itself to running media interference for ACORN around the clock.” <Source>
It appears that you cannot trust ACORN or the SEIU to be honest brokers for all Americans as they push their far-left Marist agenda forward.
ACORN tells itself: we’re not guilty, someone else is the problem …
The five greatest RED FLAGS which are currently flying over ACORN’s attempt to exonerate itself from the current “videogate” scandal are:
One: the whitewash report is hardly independent; being paid for by Acorn itself and conducted by a “law firm” with deep political connections – on the democrat side. Supervised by former democrat, Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harschbarger, who is said to be a long-time ally of ACORN.
Two: the whitewash report is not a comprehensive investigation of ACORN and does not focus on things of real significance like voter fraud.
“Proskauer [the law firm] was not retained to investigate allegations of fraud relating to Project Vote, an associated but separate entity which helped 1.2 million low-income people register to vote prior to the 2008 election. These efforts came under scrutiny due to the size of the voter registration effort, and the fact that certain registration cards secured by ACORN employees and volunteers contained bogus names. Higher ranking ACORN officials maintain that the requirements of the law were followed – they reviewed each voter registration card prior to submitting it to various local city/county election offices and secretaries of state, and notified those authorities of any suspicions of fraudulent activity. Several U.S. attorneys found no legal basis upon which to investigate ACORN’s voter registration efforts.”
Notice how carefully crafted and misleading this statement is. This is pure political spin. Yes, several U.S. attorneys found no legal basis upon which to investigate ACORN’s voter registration efforts – but other law enforcement entities did; especially Attorney Generals in states seemingly affected by voter registration fraud.
Three, the whitewash report is deeply flawed as it attempts to shift the blame for the situation to “systemic” factors and those no longer “wink-wink” affiliated with the organization.
“Since the termination of founder Wade Rathke following the disclosure of his eight-year cover-up of an embezzlement by his brother, the then Chief Executive Officer of CCI, and the subsequent appointment of Ms. Lewis as Chief Executive Officer of ACORN in June 2008, the national organization has pursued a significant effort to evaluate and reform its financial and governance structures. It has retained reputable legal and financial professionals to assist in this effort, and has had the benefit of an executive consultant, on loan from a major foundation, who serves as interim Chief Operating Officer; training assistance from outside audit and training programs; and outside counsel, seconded as in-house general counsel. It has implemented, or is implementing, the recommendations made by these consultants.”
Four, the methodology cited included a review of documents presented and made available by ACORN. I wonder what they didn’t see?
“APPENDIX A – INVESTIGATIVE METHODOLOGY
We have reviewed an extensive collection of documents, including, by way of example, ACORN (and ACORN Housing, Project Vote, ACORN Institute, among other ACORN related entities) staff policies and organizing manuals; descriptions of the organizational structure of ACORN boards, chapters, affiliates, and corporate entities; ACORN and academic/media articles regarding ACORN’s various national issue and advocacy campaigns; ACORN related human resources and staff management policies; internal reporting requirements; project and services quality control methods; board administration and governance guidelines; and software information. These documents total more than 7,000 pages.”
Five, the report could hardly be considered complete or comprehensive since all interviews were with current ACORN members and there does not appear to be any consideration of those ousted by ACORN after charging mismanagement and wrongdoing.
What about these stories?
“Shockingly, we now learn that the ACORN office in National City (San Diego County) engaged in a massive document dump on the evening of October 9th, containing thousands upon thousands of sensitive documents, just days prior to the [California] Attorney General’s visit.” <Source>
“ACORN’s San Diego office isn’t the only place its been careless with sensitive documents. Late last year, ACORN abandoned an office in Oklahoma. In its haste to vacate the office–and skip out on the landlord’s claim of back-rent–ACORN abandoned piles of documents, as well as a computer. Below is a copy of ACORN’s “Oklahoma Power Plan,” a long-term political plan to reshape politics in the Sooner State.” <Source>
Bottom line …
Quoting Mike Flynn …
“Well, ACORN retained a law firm to investigate its operations and, surprise, the law firm found that ACORN hadn’t done anything wrong in the undercover videos filmed by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles. The review, overseen by former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harschbarger, a long-time ally of ACORN, found that any problems within ACORN are, gosh darn it, simply because ACORN was too successful, i.e. grew too big and too fast. The problems are also mostly, conveniently, the result of people who are no longer employed by ACORN, i.e. Wade Rathke.” <Source>
No surprise here. We need to reassess the Marxist leanings of the Obama Administration, organizations such as ACORN, unions such as the SEIU as well as other institutions which have been infiltrated and compromised by far-left radicals. It is time for us to take back our government from far-left democrats and their far-left radical base who want to turn the United States into another third-world nation under the United Nations mandate and who openly worship the dictators that run Cuba, Venezuela and other regimes which feature “central planning” by a political elite.
