What has happened to America is readily apparent. Our government has become a refuge for the maladjusted individuals who have put their own personal and political interests above those of the people they purport to represent. In many cases, pandering to the special interests who can provide campaign funding, voter support and favors for political friends – no matter what the cost or the consequences to the constituents who elected them.
How has this happened is also readily apparent. Over time serious commentary on the important events impacting our lives, our communities and our nation have given way to entertainment. In an effort to commercialize the unbiased news, the mainstream media has concentrated on criminals, freaks and celebrities – sometimes typified by the same person – as they seek to shock, amuse and entertain you. Spoon feeding you palatable sound bites that keep you from turning the channel rather than reporting on the hard news.
And now we are reaching the tipping point. The apparent merging of an ever-expanding government with almost unlimited power and the media special interests who want government access, support and their continued monopoly over the taxpayer-owned airwaves. To serve their masters, many in the so-called mainstream media are openly serving government propaganda in bite-sized portions.
The average person, the hard worker who concentrates on earning a living, raising a family and managing their life is now being purposely bombarded with an avalanche of government stories in the media – crying “no more” until they simply accept that which is presented as gospel. Lulled into complacency by a continual hypnotic drumbeat of inanities and meaningless celebrity gossip and commentator chatter which passes for news coverage.
Perhaps no greater example can be given that that of Sean Penn, a tremendously talented actor who was raised in a socialist/communist environment and is off to interview the hero of the left, Fidel Castro. Will he deal with Castro’s mass murder of opponents, the current crop of political prisoners, the denial of the very human rights which allows Penn to spout his nonsense in the American media? Probably not! While Sean Penn is being portrayed as a journalist, it should be remembered that he lacks the first requirement of journalistic ethics: an open mind willing to present an unbiased, fair and balanced, description of what he sees and experiences. Penn’s work will be used by those in America to continue to push their far-left political agenda, never noticing the death and destruction of socialist and communist cultures – which may soon be our fate. Penn’s article and opinion will be endlessly discussed as if someone like Sean Penn’s opinion really matters to ordinary Americans. Truth be told, he is just another distraction that keeps you from seeing the clear and present danger which is before your very eyes.
One need only look at the Obama Administration to see Marxists, Socialists and Communists being nominated to high government offices – perhaps with clearances to state secrets which will benefit America’s enemies, both foreign and domestic. One need only look at the programs that the Obama Administration is backing: healthcare, cap-and-trade, new financial regulatory agencies and many other initiatives that are not about service to the public, but wresting power from the public and securing it in a few chosen hands. One-party rule with little or no Constitutional checks and balances is where we appear to be heading. And with disastrous results. If history is any guide, one need only look at the states and cities with heavy one-party control. Many are fiscally compromised, cesspools of government corruption and crime. Many are so corrupt that it takes a major criminal event to even be noticed in the local press. One need only look at the current Administration and Congress to know that I am right.
We need to stand up and fight the trend. NOW, not later. We need to support those who will return ethics to a more manageable government. We must fight back against the growing corruption and voter intimidation that is being purported to be in our best interest. The end does not justify the means, except in places where one-party rule predominates. We must discuss the current situation within our families, with our neighbors and in our community.
In tomorrow’s blog, I will reveal an idea which can help clean up our cities and states. It might not do much for our federal government, but that too can be easily cleaned up with the citizen’s term limits program of never electing an incumbent, professional politician or lawyer to office until they get the message that “we, the people, are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore.”
Until tomorrow; be well, be safe and take care of yourself and your family first.
