Perhaps the Nobel Peace Prize is now awarded as a consolation prize to the leader of a country for failing to secure the Olympics?
UPDATE(02): 10-09-2009 THE SMOKING GUN
The deadline for nominations for a Nobel Peace Prize was February 1, 2009 -- and Barack Obama assumed office on January 20, 2009. Thus he was in office for approximately two weeks when he was honored for his achievements. At that point, he had no foreign affairs policy or experience. Thus proving that the fix was in. The situation was even worse than imagined. Perhaps the prize truly belonged to Obama's speech writer and TelePrompTer operation. In my mind , Norway should be banned from offering any additional prizes and the process should be returned to Sweeden; to be handled like the merit-based prizes awarded to truly outstanding achievements.
UPDATE(01): 10-09-2009 EVEN OBAMA ACKNOWLEDGES HE DID'NT DESERVE THE AWARD
"Saying he was 'surprised and deeply humbled' by the decision of the Nobel Committee to award him the 2009 Peace Prize, President Barack Obama said he will accept the award as a 'call to action.'”
"In remarks late Friday morning in the White House Rose Garden, Obama said he did not expect to win, and he does not view the award as a recognition of his own accomplishments."
“'To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honored by this prize – men and women who have inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.'"
I can hardly consider Al Gore to be a transformative figure -- but Barack Obama does fit in! Like Gore: he speechifys; refuses to accept blame or criticism; refuses to debate, except with a controlled audience; and has accomplished little or nothing of substance. His policies are as toxic as the terrorist/blackmailer Yasser Arafat. And his award is in the same vein as the one received by Jimmy Carter -- a slap in the face to those who are not weaklings and appeasers and who do not embrace far left values and wealth redistribution. Spin this any which way and you get the same result. The Norwegians have soiled their own house and insulted the memory of Alfred Nobel -- all for a partisan, political purpose.
Being the evil-minded cynic, I wonder if this was pre-staged by Rahm Emannuel as another publicity coup which would divert the public's attention from the attrocity that is Obamacare and Cap and Trade?
Original Blog Post ...
I am shocked that the Nobel Peace Prize has been so devalued and debased as to be awarded to a man with no provable achievements, no accomplishments and whose very existence makes a mockery of the American-way of politics.
Truth be told, the telegenic, well-spoken Barack Obama who exists is a world of pre-written speeches and TelePrompTer oration is little more than a demonstration of the actor’s art – he should be receiving an Emmy, not a Nobel Peace Prize.
I believe that this says more about the Nobel Committee and their socialistic views than it does about the recipient. Barack Obama has done nothing, squat, to advance peace in this world. But then again, he is selling hope and change – when the reality is that he has further divided the American public, played the race card repeatedly, sullied the Office of the Presidency by appointing Marxists/Communists to high positions.
So if the Nobel Prize is now being awarded to those who assist in diminishing or destroying the power, prestige and institutions of the United States, let them start handing out medals embossed with the visage of Lenin, Marx and Stalin.
Reuters is reporting …
“Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision that honored the first-year U.S. president more for promise than achievement and drew both praise and skepticism around the world.”
“The bestowal of one of the world's top accolades on a president less than nine months in office, who has yet to score a major foreign policy success, was greeted with gasps of astonishment from journalists at the announcement in Oslo.”
At lease Obama had the humility to recognize that this was another fluke occurance and that he truly had not accomplished anything the merited the awarding of this formerly prestigious prize.
“Obama expressed surprise at winning the award, saying he felt humbled and unworthy of being counted in the company of the ‘transformative figures’ of history who had won it.”
"’I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments but rather an affirmation of American leadership,’ he said in the White House Rose Garden. ‘I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.”
The awards “true colors” – for weakening the United States and embracing those who want to see us dead …
“The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised Obama for ‘his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,’ citing his fledgling push for nuclear disarmament and his outreach to the Muslim world.”
“Obama has been widely credited with improving America's global image after the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush, who alienated both friends and foes with go-it-alone policies like the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.”
The global image of the United States has become one of weakness and appeasement. Where Administration and Congressional elected officials can be bought for the proverbial 30-pieces of silver; in this case via campaign funds funneled through lawyers, lobbyists and the American subsidiaries of foreign firms.
Where it counts: the hero is a zero …
“But critics called the Nobel committee's decision premature, given that Obama so far has made little tangible headway as he grapples with challenges ranging from the war in Afghanistan and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to nuclear standoffs with Iran and North Korea.”
The real challenges of dealing with bad actors such as North Korea and Iran promise to further drain the United States Treasury while producing little or no tangible results. The insertion of the United States into the Middle East conflict while not posing a compressive energy policy for the United States is almost incomprehensible.
“The first African-American to hold his country's highest office, Obama, 48, has struggled with a litany of foreign policy problems bequeathed to him by Bush, while taking a more multilateral approach than his predecessor.”
Every President faces the problems, to a greater or lesser extent, left by the previous President. Such is the natural flow of politics on a four- or eight-year turnover.
Style versus Substance: Perception versus Reality – aided and abetted by a corrupt and/or complacent mainstream media …
“Despite troubles at home including a battered economy and fierce healthcare debate that have eroded his once-lofty approval ratings, the Democratic U.S. president is still widely seen around the world as an inspirational figure.”
Are the kidding?
"’Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future,’ the Nobel committee said in its citation.”
Here is a President who proposes to destroy America’s finances by enlarging the government, raising taxes and curtailing American freedoms with a variety of toxic programs such as Obamacare, cap and trade. He is following the socialist’s prescription for the destruction of America and its replacement with a European style socialism where countries are ruled by coalitions and wealth re-distribution is held out as a benefit to the poor people. A place where politicians serve their wealthy masters and create little or nothing of value for the people the pretend to serve. Chaos and corruption abounds.
The anti-Bush award …
“But some analysts saw the award as a final slap in the face for Bush from the European establishment, which had resented what they saw as arrogance and recklessness in world affairs.”
Say what you will about George Bush, ranging from dope smoking draft dodger incompetent moron to worse, you did not wonder about his patriotism and you did not fear that he was going to destroy America’s institutions. He is associated with cronyism, corruption, incompetence – but not anti-American activities and inviting communists and Marxists into the White House.
Bottom Line …
We now live in a rapidly decaying world which has become hyper-politicized and captured by the socialists and communists who see Barack Obama and his Congress as a new beginning for the movement in America and throughout the world. We are losing the battle for decency to those who are corrupt and complacent.
Never before have we faced such a challenge from our enemies, both foreign and domestic … and I stress domestic. Where I should be proud that a fellow American won such a prestigious prize, I feel nothing by shame and disgust. Which makes me want to redouble my efforts to vote each and every one of our corrupt, complacent and toxic politicians out of office and replace them with my neighbors.
The Nobel Prize should serve as the rallying cry for patriots who recognize that it was awarded by our ideological enemies for service in behalf of their cause … not to signify achievement or benefit to the world.

Jeebus...you're quite the ignorant douchebag, aren't you? Obama could cure cancer and you'd bitch about....$^@&@ asshole. You're pathetic.
===========================================
Does that mean you won't tell me an acceptable word for costed?
If Obama did cure cancer, I would second his nomination for a Nobel Prize in Medicine. My problem is that he has done nothing of note. Even his own people cannot point to any accomplishments. Providing oratorical flights of fantasy using the pre-tested words of others, delivered with a TelePrompTer, does not qualify as achievement.
I would appreciate any examples you might be able to provide that would enlighten me as to any accomplishment of note. Perhaps if you would make your point without such obvious rancor, I would have more respect for you and your opinions. -- steve
P.S. I can see you have already made an impression with my fellow bloggers.
