After refusing to become just another ambitious lame-duck governor sucking the teat of political office, I cannot help but note that the democrats have now ratcheted-up their attack on Sarah Palin another notch to a more hysterical level.
What is driving these attacks?
1. Sarah Palin is a normal person who was not born of privilege, was not educated at “elite” schools like Harvard, Princeton and Yale, and has worked for everything she has achieved. She is married to a normal guy and has an unremarkably normal family and relatives. Bottom line – she is one of the people, just like us.
2. Sarah Palin is not about victimhood. She is not an affirmative action choice and has never complained about her gender. She may refer to the “old boys club,” but it does set her off on a fanatical crusade under the feminist banner. Because she does not openly weep about the historical excesses which may have been heaped on long-gone ancestors and extol the virtues of affirmative action legislation and reparations as a remedy for past transgressions, she is immediately suspect by those who want to enlarge their power base by pandering to the poor, the minorities and the illegal aliens.
3. Sarah Palin understands both money and politics. She has proven that she is not about waste, corruption and mismanagement as she has served the citizens of Alaska well. She appears to be more honest and trustworthy than our current group of politicians who are hell-bent on lining their own pockets while they secure their powerbase for another three or four decades.
4. Sarah Palin mirrors the morals and ethics of the so-called silent majority which comprises the bulk of American citizens.
5. She is a patriot who loves her country. She is not a committed leftist or Marxist who blames America for the world’s condition. Unlike Hillary Clinton, she did not write a paean to Saul Alinsky.
6. Sarah Palin is both telegenic and articulate. She does not need a TelePrompTer to explain her position, nor does she shy away from defending her core beliefs in any forum. Because she has core values, she does not require focus groups and spin doctors to know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. She may not be a polished orator, but she delivers her Reagan-like message in a clear, unambiguous manner.
7. She is more experienced than Barack Obama was when he took the Presidency. She actually has run a government entity, balanced a budget and solved pressing problems. She is not a no-tax zealot and knows when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em – all to the benefit of her constituents. Her lack of foreign affairs experience is not a problem: she knows the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, and has an entire cadre of willing career bureaucrats advisors should she want to explore pussyfooting nuance.
In short, she is your neighbor – albeit a politician – but more your neighbor than any of the asshats now serving in the Administration.
Preparing for the attacks …
The democrats, taking a page out of Marxist Saul Alinsky’s playbook will try to demonize her. Accuse her of waste, fraud, corruption and moral equivocation. They and they surrogates will slander, libel and do everything in their power to assure she does not become the Republican nominee in 2012. I would not even put it past the democrats to subvert the primary process by asking democrats to re-register as Republicans to insure than any one of her rivals is given the official slot. And for those who are positioning Sarah Palin as a quitter for leaving office, I find it both refreshing and admirable that she was able to turn the reins of power over to the next-in-command when she determined that her continued effectivness for the citizens of Alaska could be futher compromised by the swirling brouhaha over continuing democratic maneuvers and attacks.
My early choice …
Until I see a better choice that would serve America, all American and just not a coalition of disaffected victims for the Presidential race in 2012, it looks like Sarah Palin is the front-runner for the conservative wing of the Republican ticket. And I am hoping that she is not corrupted by those Rockefeller-style Republicans who want to keep milking our national treasury while they only pretend they support “fiscal responsibility.”
