There is no doubt that each member of Congress deeply affects our entire nation with their votes … and yet they refuse to listen to suggestions, criticism and comments from outside of their district, in the case of Representatives, or their states, in the case of Senators.

Email Congressman [insert name here] Congressman [insert name here] receives email from all over the country on a wide range of issues. Regrettably, he is only able to respond to emails from his constituents within the [insert district here] District. Please fill out the following address box to send an email to Congressman [insert Congressman’s last name here]. If this is a casework matter (immigration, social security, veterans, etc.), please make sure to include your telephone number in your e-mail message. |
Thus many members of Congress, not all, refuse to accept comments from the citizens and taxpayers whose lives are deeply affected by their votes.
Brilliant idea …
As long as members of Congress are unwilling to accept comments from citizens and taxpayers out of their districts and states – perhaps they should also be denied access to funds from those outside of their districts and states. Not only will this make the member of Congress more respectful of their constituency – it will also bring more of a local viewpoint to the forefront.
After all, aren’t these people sent to Congress and paid by the taxpayers of the United States to represent their local constituency and defend the Constitution from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Considering the amount of special interest cash influencing elections, it is now time to purge the Congress of those who were corrupt or complacent while the United States was being looted by the politicians, political parties and their special interest friends.
Consider this Airport supported by John Murtha …
Try telling John Murtha that you are displeased with this colossal waste of money using Murtha’s official Congressional e-mail system which is supported at taxpayer expense and you will get this message:
“Your zip code indicates that you are outside of the 12th District of Pennsylvania. Regrettably, I am unable to reply to any email from constituents outside of the 12th District of Pennsylvania.”
Murtha is a corrupt politician … and unfortunately, is not the only one selling out the American taxpayer for personal, professional and political gain …
And if you thought Murtha was an innocent victim of a misunderstanding, here is a video taken of Murtha by the Federal Government which demonstrates he could be open to bribes …
“(Part 3 of 6 parts) : January 1, 1980 : FBI Abscam "Sting" Video of Agent's Meeting with U.S. Rep. John Murtha (D-PA; Johnstown), Mel Weinburg (the "sting" man) and Howard Criden (a Philadelphia attorney) - in which Murtha states that he isn't interested in the $50,000 bribe offered in exchange for his legislative efforts to get two Saudi men admitted to the U.S., "at this time." Murtha, however, was willing to go along with the scheme, in exchange for Arab investments in businesses in Murtha's district. But, if their relationship worked out, Murtha clearly indicated, he would be interested in money for himself at a later date. Through the totality of the meeting, it is clear that Murtha is thoroughly engaged in the scheme, knows and discusses what is going on, and the overall exchange of bribes for legislative/official activity on the part of all involved. Murtha, one of Congresses most thoroughly corrupt politicos, barely escaped sanctions from the House ethics committee, though six other members of congress were given the heave ho, prosecuted and convicted.”
One hand washes the other …
It appears that Murtha is for sale and the reason he has longevity is because of his overwhelming campaign support by the special interests.
The key is to make these politicians more responsive to the American people – all the people. No hiding behind dodges which keep citizens and taxpayers from objecting to the behavior of a member of Congress unless they live within the members district or state.
Anyway, just another idea that might make the United States a better place to live, work, worship and raise a family.
