Almost everybody recognizes California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as a RINO (Republican In Name Only), a narcissistic ego-driven pragmatic liberal who ONLY wants to win and look good in the media. A political movie star seeking adulation.
When he ditched his running mate for Lieutenant Governor, Tom McClintock, an extremely knowledgeable, honest, ethical and conservative Republican and named a long-time liberal lesbian democrat as his Chief of Staff, the handwriting was on the wall. It didn't seem to matter that she was the chief of staff to his re-called predecessor, Gray Davis, or that there were a number of well-qualified Republicans who could have assumed the position. And apparently he has even outdone him in terms of seeking campaign contributions and spending the California taxpayer's hard-earned money on questionable projects.
Now, London's number one news website, the Telegraph, has listed Schwarzenegger as the 8th most important liberal in the United States. Thus confirming what I believe to be true.
Preceding him on the list are:
Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Mark Penn (Hillary's Campaign Advisor), Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and Michael Moore.
Following him on the list are: Oprah Winfrey, Evan Bayh, John Podesta and others known to be staunch liberals.
Even the Telegraph could not, in apparent good conscience, list Schwarzenegger as a conservative. Here's what they had to say...
8. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
Governor of California
"Leaving him off the conservative list was a difficult decision but Schwarzenegger’s defiance of Republican orthodoxy and move towards California liberalism leaves him better placed to influence the liberal sphere. Even unstinting Schwarzenegger support of a Rudy Giuliani general election campaign in California would be unlikely to deliver the state to Republicans. His marriage to Maria Shriver took him into the Kennedy clan."
"As an Austrian-born immigrant, the former body builder and action movie star is barred from the presidency, though he has not ruled out a run for the US Senate in 2010 if Barbara Boxer retires. Schwarzenegger’s actions to combat global warming have prompted an alliance with Tony Blair and are likely lead to his working more closely with Al Gore. For any Democrat entering the Oval Office, one of the first calls will be to Schwarzenegger."
No one could have written it better. In spite of his recent publicity triumph as the "leader making it happen" in the recent tragic California wild fire scene -- shaking hands on-camera with President Bush and a host of democrat leaders, he walks, talks and preens like a liberal democrat.
Unlike most democrats, he is able to bring a fair degree of intelligence to the table and is not your traditional "style over substance" democrat.
While I wish him well as my Governor, I also wish that he would forget California and run for Teddy Kennedy's Massachusetts Senate seat. He would make me, much of California and certainly First Lady Maria much happier campers.
