Introducing "One Bill Gil"...
It is no secret that a number of California politicians act as if their allegiance was to Mexico and the illegal aliens who cross our borders without legal right or permission. One of the most outspoken is California Senator Gil Cedillo, nicknamed "One Bill Gil" for his persistent introduction of legislation which would provide "gateway" documentation in the form of valid California driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
Senate Bill S.B. 160 is misnamed and inappropriate...
Cedillo now has the nerve to sponsor legislation misnamed the "California Dream Act" which attempts to allow illegal aliens to further tap the pockets of legal, law-abiding residents in order to subsidize their education.
Illegal Aliens receive preference over active members of our armed forces...
It is bad enough that members of our armed forces are forced to pay "non-resident" student tuition while serving in California, but any illegal alien qualifies for the heavily subsidized "resident" tuition rate.
Now, Cedillo proposes that we provide these very same illegal aliens with access to tuition assistance and other financial support.
According to the California Legislative Analyst...
"Effectively, the bill provided in-state tuition on the basis of secondary school attendance rather than legal residency. This bill would allow pupils exempted from nonresident status through AB 540 to also receive state and institutional aid, including fee waivers from community colleges."
"According to estimates made by the Pew Hispanic Center, there were nearly 11 million undocumented residents in the United States, as of March 2005, and 24% of them lived in California. Assuming the percentage of undocumented between the ages of 18 and 39 is the same in California as it is nationwide (72%), California may have approximately 1.9 million undocumented residents in this age range. If 1/3rd of those residents are under 25, then California would have roughly 633,000 undocumented residents that meet a reasonable definition of college-aged."
"Thus, the maximum cost exposure to the state is high."
And who is voting in favor of this bill -- the liberal "can't we all just get along" socialistic open borders crowd...

What can YOU do?
Become better informed about the stresses and strains inflicted California's infrastructure by illegal aliens who cost the government $22,000 above and beyond any benefits they provide or tax revenue they may pay.
Write the Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to veto this current version of the bill as he vetoed similar legislation in 2005. Use this link to e-mail the governor.
Write your representatives to explain that you demand that they not squander California's precious tax dollars on illegal aliens and start repairing some of the infrastructure damaged by the hoard of aliens who have violated our sovereignty when they crossed the border.
Do not support any California politician whose allegiance to the United States is suspect and who is voting to penalize California's taxpayers to provide "citizenship" rights to Mexican nationals and others who have no legal right to be present in California.
Do not support any national candidate or politician who feels the same way about providing the fruits of our labor to illegal aliens in a grand humanitarian gesture... which only encourages more illegal behavior.
